City museum of Merano
This museum is one of the oldest Museums in South Tyrol and was founded in 1900 by the arts collector Franz Innerhofer. His collection of gothic sculptures and baroque paintings made by tyrolean artists formed the base of the collection of the museum.

The Botanical Gardens at Trauttmansdorff Castle in Merano
This museum is close to Merano and was opened in spring 2003. It shows the historical development of tourism in South Tyrol.
The Botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff castle are also worth seeing. They are open from 1st of April to 15th of November and offer a very special setting for a museum. Take your time and explore more than 60 different gardens – a fantastic experience!
During summer and autumn time there is also an comprehensive events programme at the gardens of Schloss Trautmanndorff including concerts, theater performances or wine tastings.
Women’s Museum Evelyn-Ortner in Merano
This museum exhibits Europe’s biggest and most comprehensive collection of women’s dresses and accessories of the years 1820-1990.

The Typewriter Museum in Partschins
Peter Mitterhofer was the inventor of the typewriter and at the museum you will get to know more about the history of the development of the typewriter.
The museum owns about 900 unique pieces from the years 1864-1980. 300 of them are exhibited and can be admired in the Typewriter Museum Peter Mitterhofer.

Museum Passeier – Andreas Hofer in St. Leonhard in Passeier
A new museum has been built at Sandhof, the home town of Andreas Hofer in the years 1767-1810. It focuses on Tyrol’s struggle for freedom, lead by Andreas Hofer in 1809. There is an audio centre, where music is played and where sagas, myths and narratives of the valley are told.
Reinhold Messner’s castle Juval nearby Naturns
As a synthesis of the arts, it combines the castle, a museum, a wine-growing estate, and an organic farm. You can see historic pictures and paintings, frescos, a collection of masks with exhibits from five different continents, gnomes, trolls, Asiatic figures, Messner’s gear from several expeditions, and much more besides. Well worth seeing!
